LOCAL GOVERNMENT AND REGIONAL ADMINISTRATION |
COURSE DESCRIPTION |
| |
This is a survey course on the administrative organizations and functions of local governments; national-local relations; and the role of local governments in development. It deals with the theories and concepts, issues and problems, as well as trends and developments pertaining to the political subdivision of the local governments as they operate within the context of Philippine society. |
COURSE OBJECTIVES |

To acquaint students with basic and fundamental theories and concepts on local governance, administration and development |
* |
To increase awareness on the theoretical and practical operation of local governments as well as their functional and structural relation with the national government and inter/intra relation with and among local governmental units. |
* |
To raise the consciousness of students on the multifarious and multifaceted issues, problems and challenges confronting local governments and local development |
* |
To enhance understanding and appreciation on issues and policies affecting metropolitan governance, regional governance and other pertinent topics related to sub-national administration of the State; and |
* |
To develop critical thinking among students that would enable them to analyze and evaluate performance of local governments as well as propose viable solutions that would strengthen the capacity of LGU's to pursue their developmental goals and objectives. |
